Summertime Wedding in Colorado | Kaitlyn & Kyle
In 2021 we got to travel to Colorado for the most beautiful backyard wedding (Allie & James - check it out!). And through that - we met Kaitlyn & Kyle! Allie, our previous bride, is Kaitlyn’s cousin. And I’ve said this before, but it is SO fun when we get to do multiple weddings in the same family, because we get to see everyone again.
Back in August, I got the pleasure of shooting Kaitlyn & Kyle’s engagements, and we clicked immediately. I wrote about the session here, but it was a BLAST. I came home from the session and told Mark - holy crap, I cannot wait for their wedding. I knew it was going to be amazing, and it definitely was.
We were instantly welcomed into this group of family & friends. It was kind of a stormy day, but that made the sky so beautiful, and all of the colors so vivid. I am so thankful anytime we get to go to Colorado, because seeing the mountain ranges in the distance is so inspiring, and such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. They spent their morning getting ready slowly, with their bridal party. It had been raining on and off during the morning, but right before their first look was scheduled to take place, the rain stopped - and they were able to step outside and see each other for the first time that day, under the most beautiful storm clouds.
Kaitlyn & Kyle compliment each other so well, and during their ceremony, I’m not exaggerating when I say that their personal vows had EVERYONE crying - including me. The sun came out, and they were officially married in front of all of their favorite people. Guests got to explore the grounds, having drinks and playing games, while we took some pictures! You could tell it was potentially going to start raining again, so we moved the party inside for the reception.
They shared their first dance, and Mark and I noticed the coolest thing - every single guest was quiet, watching them dance together. That might not sound like the craziest thing, but I’ve done a lot of weddings, and sometimes guests' gaze tend to wander, and they talk amongst each other. I’ve never really noticed it that much, until I got to experience a first dance where every single person was quiet and attentive, and it was magical. Everyone was so present in the moment, and you could feel the love.
After some amazing speeches, including some really emotional ones from their parents, it was party time! And let me tell you - this crowd went wild. We danced out there with everyone, and hours later, said goodbye - and Kaitlyn & Kyle ran through the crowd of guests, high-fiving everyone and hugging and it was so fun. I love this family - and we are so grateful for how they have included us and made us feel like family.
