Barb & Dillon - Arbor Hills Maternity Session
Barb is an old high school friend - and I was SO stoked when she reached out about doing her maternity photos. Maternity can be kind of daunting - but the key is to just treat it like a normal couples session - there’s just a belly in the way now!
I had super limited availability in June - and since baby boy was due around June 15th ish - we settled on June 8th for her photos. I was out of town in Washington until June 1st, and then June 3rd I was supposed to hop on a plane to Yosemite for an elopement until the 7th!
I get a text from Barb on June 1st, while I’m still in Washington and essentially - she knew she wasn’t going to make it until June 8th! The next day - the 2nd - was the only day I would even be in Texas, and so we decided for a morning session. We met up and realized the park we were planning on shooting in was closed! A quick google search later revealed a nearby ‘park’ (mostly just a small patch of trees) and so we headed over there. And it ended up being the perfect location! I got to focus on her and Dillon - and the background kind of faded away. They were a blast - and SO good in front of the camera. I hardly had to direct them at all. We spent the session catching up and reminiscing on our old high school days.
That night - she went into labor and Noah was born! We couldn’t believe the timing. I’m SO dang glad everything worked out because this session is one of my all time favorites. And it made me much less intimidated by maternity!
