Leavenworth, Washington Mountain Engagements

I journeyed up north to Washington to shoot with and learn from an amazing wedding photographer, Marcella Laine (www.marcellalaine.com) . Marci was the coolest – and planned an epic mentor session in the mountains of Leavenworth, Washington. Before this shoot, I had actually never been to Washington – so I was really excited to spend the weekend there. I flew into Seattle, rented a car, and drove two hours to the tiny mountain town of Leavenworth. The drive itself was stunning – here in Texas, I’m used to flat lands and nothing but buildings. And I think after visiting Alaska, and now Washington – I can safely say that I am 100% a mountain girl and will probably end up moving to the PNW in the future. The drive was breathtaking – but Leavenworth was better.

Picture the most stereotypical ‘fall’ moment ever – red and brown leaves were falling from the trees, the sun was shining, the air was crisp and there was a mountain range dusted with snow in the background. I drove into town and literally FaceTimed my parents immediately because it was the most beautiful moment. You could walk everywhere, and each morning I was there I would walk from my hotel room to a beautiful coffee shop and eat my breakfast facing the mountains.

When it was time to shoot – Marci had the sweetest couple, Kai & Garret, come model for us. We drove up a mountain and shot in what felt like 500 different locations, but was really just one. We had crazy weather – and what I love so much about this shoot is how the weather and different backdrops made it feel like completely separate photoshoots. We had sun, rain, fog – and mountains, forest, and clearings. It was an epic shoot – I learned SO much from Marci, had a blast with Kai & Garret – and really, I just cannot wait to go back.
