Helicopter Elopement in Alaska | Cat & Tom

I traveled to Alaska for the Wild & Unwritten workshop hosted by Peyton Byford and Kylie Morgan. Both of them are amazingly talented photographers, and I was so excited to learn from them. I had been wanting to invest in a workshop and work on my photography, and when I saw that they were holding it in Alaska, a place I’ve always wanted to travel, I jumped at the opportunity.

I applied and was able to get a spot. Then COVID hit. And there was suddenly a lot of uncertainty around whether or not the workshop would happen. Alaska put in certain travel restrictions that required you to get a negative COVID test before you could enter the state. And thankfully all attendees, models, and vendors were able to travel safely - and the workshop happened!

I knew I was excited to go to Alaska - but I didn’t realize just how life-changing it would be. The scenery was unreal - literally, it felt like we were in another world. Kylie and Peyton put on the BEST shoots - but this was my favorite.

We got to shoot with Cat & Tom (the coolest freaking couple) in front of a helicopter! Helicopter trips are pretty common in Alaska, and it’s easy to see why. Cat & Tom were so playful and fun - it was a blast to watch them interact and they were so dang natural in front of the camera.

Afterwards, we journeyed to Hatcher Pass and got to shoot with the MOST amazing views. There was a tiny alpine pond with spots of snow behind it, and this was hands down my favorite spot we got to shoot - resulting in some of my all-time favorite pictures.

I’m SO stoked about these. I cannot recommend Wild & Unwritten enough if you are a photographer looking to invest in some amazing education and learn from some of the best in the business.
