At-Home Session with the Jones Family

We used to stay as far away from family photography as we could. And then Mark & Kinslie had their baby boy, Hayden - and I quickly realized how much there was to capture with families. I cannot tell you how much I love watching them be parents. They are naturals - chasing Hayden through the house, reading books to him before bed, bath time - all of it. It’s endlessly fascinating, and a huge inspiration for me, I’m grateful every single time I get to witness it. I love that little dude so much, and I know that’s nothing compared to how much they love him - crazy!

So with all that - this new phase of life for them, came the idea of capturing families together, photo and video. But not the cheesy, posed stuff - we wanted the little things, the real life. Stuff you’re gonna want to remember, like how your kid never wanted to put down their favorite stuffed animal, or screamed ‘again, again!’ when you threw them in the air - all the little moments.

This looks different from our normal content, even the photo editing is different than my normal stuff. The Jones family was so wonderful to collaborate with us on this. We wanted to capture the day-to-day reality for them - the front porch hangs, the backyard swing, running through the hallway. And then when we got to hear Allison’s words - about the passage of time, how fast life goes, her love for her kids - it all really came together.
