Pfeiffer Beach, Big Sur Engagement Session
When Suzanna & Alex decided to elope in Big Sur, they didn’t plan on having an engagement session. We flew up a few days early and floated around the idea of spending the day before their elopement taking ‘engagements’ to celebrate their very last day of just being engaged and it was the best idea. Capturing an elopement is a million times more intimate than capturing a wedding - we are basically the only ‘guests’ they have for their whole wedding and it can be kind of scary knowing there are no distractions - the cameras are entirely on you. Suz & Alex were a bit nervous to have their photo/video taken - and this session was the best ice breaker. We originally planned just to shoot for an hour or two on the coast - and we ended up spending 6 hours together - shooting, exploring, having lunch, and just hanging out! We realized that we had so so much in common and became pretty fast friends - and getting to shoot together before the big day erased all their nerves! Five minutes into the shoot they both said, “this is so much easier than we thought it would be!” Which is basically the best compliment we could hear from our couples. Mark and I make it a priority to make sure our couples are feeling as comfortable as possible in front of the camera. It can be intimidating - but the right photographer/videographer can make SUCH a difference, and it will turn into such a fun experience!
We spent the tail-end of our session visiting Pfeiffer Beach and it was so incredible! We chased waves, ran around in the sand, and captured some of my favorite photos of all time. I hope you can see in the photos how much fun we have, and how relaxed these two became in front of the camera. We cannot wait to capture more elopements like this - truly the right way to get married!
